Supporting Humanitarian Efforts |  | Assisting in Recovery Efforts When the horror of September 11 struck and the impact became apparent, InterContinental Hotels Group immediately became involved, dedicating rooms, resources and relief to disaster recovery efforts.
Among the actions on the part of the company, its franchisees and employees were:
|  | - Philanthropic activities across the InterContinental Hotels Group network, including a $1 million donation, split between the American Red Cross and the September 11th Fund. Funds have been generated through corporate contributions, matching fund programs for employees, consumers and individual hotels, in-kind room donations offered by individual hotels and special fund-raising events. To date, over $1.4 million has been donated (including cash and services) towards disaster relief efforts following the September 11th tragedies.
|  | - Providing rooms for businesses and reduced rates for customers and rescue workers, including activating a special toll-free number for consumers to help travelers, and family members and friends of those touched by the terrorist attacks, find hotel rooms more quickly and easily.
| |  | |  | - Support for affected InterContinental Hotels Group employees, such as company-paid bereavement air travel for employees who lost an immediate family member.
